The Face Shop Design My Eyebrow

I'm all about brows lately; hoarding every holy grail brow product there is. I've been searching the web for reviews about every product that stays true to its promise. It has literally become an obsession. I always find myself watching YT videos to reading blog reviews while simultaneously grooming and filling in my own. If a trusted makeup guru raves about a brow product, i'm bound to get it regardless of the cost. Now I have more than enough products and I hate that I only have a pair of brows to work with. LOL.

You see, i've neglected my brows for the longest time. It was only until a year or two ago that i've paid full attention to it, realizing how the lack of brows could be detrimental to the entire makeup look. I couldn't leave the house without my brows did. I just feel incomplete and paralyzed in its absence. I've been studying the principles behind our eyebrows and I must admit, it's a learning process. Brow trends are evolving and so are the products available in the market and if you're also on a brow mojo, it's very important to keep up with the pace.

Right now, and in my succeeding posts, I shall share with you my favorite brow products. I tell you, not every brow product that is suggested by every beauty guru out there works for everyone else! The cliche "to each his own" truly applies in this case. I've spent so much money on several brow products that I don't think are worth the hype, read: Shu Uemura eyebrow pencil. Its lead easily breaks much to my dismay. Plus the fact that I had to take it to the SU counter to have it sharpened is such a feat. I like the payoff and the effect that it gives to my brows but such are overshadowed by it being a high-maintenance product. I've found a dupe anyway so i'm sure not to pick it up ever again. I just had to insert this because it's so frustrating for an expensive product. IMHO, cost should be tantamount to convenience and returns.

On a lighter note, here's the dupe that i'm talking about: The Face Shop Design My Eyebrow Lovely Me:Ex. I don't normally frequent Korean beauty stores just because i'm under the impression that their approach is to disguise their products' lack of efficacy with cute packaging. For all intents and purposes, I would like to say that I was wrong. Koreans are very meticulous when it comes to quality as they usually have sensitive skin due to abrupt climate changes. Their products are actually known to be very mild yet the effect is potent, staying true to what they purposefully intend. Having their products neatly wrapped in cute packaging is just a bonus. When I happened to enter The Face Shop, I made a beeline towards their nail polishes that only cost Php95 a pop. It was such a steal considering the range of colors aren't available from the cheaper lines. But what made my heart skip a beat was the display of brow products sitting behind the nail polish rack. Uh huh, being the brow maniac that I am, I just had to check those out.

The Face Shop Design My Eyebrow Lovely Me:Ex (Php225)
After testing out their brow products, I settled with this one. It's basically a dual ended eyebrow pencil that comes in a retractable pen. Both ends have a cap that expose the actual product, which is a flat angular lead on one end and a spoolie on the other. They offer various shades that their customers can choose from but I got mine in 01 Gray Brown.

According to the SA, this product is made of safe ingredients and it has Vitamin E, which promotes rapid growth of eyebrow hair. I have yet to prove that but let me find that out after I finish it. The noteworthy feature of this pen that makes the application so darn easy is its flat, angular tip. It allows the user to create precise, feather like strokes that make for natural looking brows. I like that the tint is faint to ensure that the brows won't look overdid. It also adds a bit of dimension as it leaves a matte, instead of a waxy finish. It could be a great base if you intend to put a browset or powder on top of it. But that's completely unnecessary if you're not product happy, unlike me. It's great in filling in sparse areas. I personally have a bald spot on my left brow and it did a great job concealing it. The application goes on like a dream, too. It doesn't tug at all. As for its staying power, it lasts the entire day under typical weather conditions and despite my oily skin. Although I noticed that the product applied on my bald spot rubbed off a little before end of day.

The lead itself feels sturdy, like it's going to take a lot for it to break or melt avoiding product wastage. It's safe enough to be tucked inside a bag while we, girls, flounce our hands around our bag much to the injury of our stuff inside. Also, the caps are pretty secure. They snug in place so we won't need to worry about lost caps just to make sure that the product stays clean. I was also informed that the lead tip is replaceable/refillable in case you run out. And oh, did I mention about the price yet? It's only Php225 a pen and that to me is a great buy.

The spoolie is very useful in a sense that it blurs out harsh lines to make sure that application is thorough and even. It's a bit smaller than usual which is how it's supposed to be. The bristles aren't too stiff either, making the strokes gentle on the skin.

I'm thinking of any gripes that I had when I tested out this product but it seems like I couldn't come up with one. For the mean time, i'll just enjoy the convenience, practicality and payoff that it delivers. I highly recommend this product to all the girls who are just starting with makeup, the ones who are constantly on the go, and just everyone who wants to get a hold of an affordable brow pen that works wonders.

How about you, what's your favorite eyebrow pen that's effective and easy on the pocket?

*The Design My Eyebrow Lovely Me:Ex is available in all The Face Shop outlets.

Stay Happy,

Khaye =)
