If you're lazy and you can't afford yourself fancy, epicurian food to address those hunger pangs that persistently crawl from afternoon to the wee hours of the night, we're pretty much in the same seat. Well I just thought of posting this as I munch my current hunger pangs away. So allow me to take you in on what i'm having right now.
Eden cheese and Fita crackers |
My hunger pangs aren't choosy but it requires instant gratification. I just need to stuff my tummy with whatever and those pangs are soon off to their slumber. When I don't have the time and budget to buy food somewhere, I gotta make do with what I have so this time I served myself with cheese and crackers. Easy peasy, right? It's my go to quick fix that's readily available in my must have food stash. We're all privy to sharing food with our co-workers and friends so cheese & crackers is a surefire hit and it's a great accompaniment to an afternoon of chitchat as well. Cheese for me is like bacon, it goes well with everything. Oooh now I crave for bacon. Anyway, I just took at least two slices of cheese and tore them into pieces by hand to achieve that rustic look. Uh huh! No matter how hungry I get, presentation I must not forget!! We eat with our eyes too you know so we have to feed our mouths with goodlooking food. Then I found a 2-month old box of once opened Fita crackers and voila! Care for some cheese & crackers, mademoiselle? Sometimes if available, I drizzle my cheese & crackers with honey or organic maple syrup. Yup, you heard it! Organic maple syrup tastes yummy as opposed to the commercial ones, which taste like simple brown sugar syrup. This meal is a good pairing with grapes and white wine, too! Lately i've been so much into arranging cheese platters and learning the art of wine pairings but those deserve their own posts so watch out.
So what are you having for merienda right now? What do you like to eat to take those hunger blues away?
Stay Happy and Full,
Khaye :)
